A MESSAGE TO OUR CURRENT AND FUTURE FAMILIES

Bethel Retirement Community’s top priority is our residents’ and staff’s health and safety. The COVID-19 virus is a severe risk to our vulnerable resident population. Our primary focus is mitigation or prevention of the spread of this devastating virus.

Our decisions are based on information and directives from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the California Department of Public Health, the Department of Social Services, and Stanislaus County Public Health. Their guidance helps us manage visitor access, minimize chances for exposure, and adhere to personal protection protocols.

Communication and transparency to all parties are essential when allowed by law. We use methods to communicate information, including a voicemail notification system and constant contact email updates.

VISITATION GUIDELINES

Any visitor entering the facility, including essential visitors, must adhere to the following:

  •        Upon entering, visitors must log into the Kiosk and answer the initial screening questions for COVID-19 symptoms. The visitor’s temperature is taken automatically during this process.
  • All visitors must wear an appropriate face covering, wash their hands, or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer upon entering the facility. Bethel will gladly provide a face mask.
  • Any visitors showing COVID-19 symptoms will not be allowed to enter.

IN-ROOM VISITATION (EXCEPT AS NOTED BELOW)

Indoor and in-room visitation is allowed, regardless of the resident’s or visitor’s vaccination status.

The circumstances which will limit indoor visitation include:

  • Residents with confirmed COVID-19 infection, whether vaccinated or unvaccinated; or
  • Residents in quarantine, whether vaccinated or unvaccinated.

Indoor in-room visits are limited to essential visits for residents in isolation or quarantine, following appropriate infection prevention protocols.

In-room visitation for essential visits is always available and includes the following:

  • Medically necessary visits or other urgent health or legal matters that cannot be and cannot be accomplished virtually.
  • Compassionate care visits including, but not limited to:
  • End-of-life;
  • A recently admitted resident who is struggling with the change in environment and lack of in-person family support;
  • A resident who is grieving after a friend or family member recently died;
  • A resident who needs cueing and encouragement with eating or drinking, previously provided by family and/or caregiver(s), and is experiencing weight loss or dehydration;
  • A resident who used to talk and interact with others is experiencing progressive withdrawal, emotional distress, seldom speaking, behavioral decompensation, or crying more frequently.

OUTDOOR VISITATION

We have designed outdoor, tented visitation areas.

VIRTUAL VISITATION

At all times, we allow and assist in arranging alternative communication for visitors, including phone calls and virtual visits using Zoom Meetings, FaceTime, and Google Duo Video Chat.

ENHANCED STANDARD PRECAUTIONS AND INFECTIOUS CONTROL PROCEDURES

Enhanced standard precautions and infection control procedures include:

  • All employees are screened daily before their shift for signs, symptoms, and exposure. Included in the screening is a temperature check
  • All employees are mandated to wear masks
  • We are continually educating staff on our infectious disease prevention efforts
  • We have enacted enhanced cleaning and sanitation protocol related to COVID-19, including frequent cleaning of high-touch surfaces with EPA-registered, hospital-grade disinfectants
  • Personal protective equipment (i.e., masks & gowns) are to be used following directives from the CDC and the Public Health Agencies.

Bethel is committed to keeping our residents and staff healthy and safe. Being cautious doesn’t mean sacrificing the quality of life for our residents. We’re here to provide care for the heart, mind, and body; while keeping safety measures in place. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
